Well, we did it! We ALL survived our first week (half week?) of school! Woo! Except for a lost voice for your's truly, I honestly think that this week was SO successful and productive! Thank you for being so supportive and working with your children on being so respectful and on time. We as the teachers all really appreciate it.
Last week:
6th Grade ~ The 6th grade started off the week going over the classroom procedures and expectations for Language Arts and learning about their teacher. I was excited to see how much they interacted with me and wanted to learn about each other and myself. We also took our first trip to the library. Just a heads up, library is no longer every Thursday, but every OTHER Thursday. Also, if books are turned in late, they are now $.25 rather than $.10. The students were also divided into their "Houses" for classroom management purposes. If you would like to hear more information about this, please do not hesitate to ask. :) This week we'll begin discussing the 7 reading strategies and how our brains use them.
7th & 8th Grade ~ The 7th and 8th grade spent the week reviewing the classroom procedures and expectations for Language Arts. They also got to play a short competitive game on how much they know about Ms. Bertram (rather than reviewing myself, I let them prove how much they know about me!) which was an absolute hit. We also took our first trip to the library. Just a reminder that library is every OTHER Thursday, and if books are late, they are $.25 rather than $.10. On Friday, we reviewed the 7 reading strategies. The students were also divided into their "Houses" for classroom management purposes. If you would like to hear more information about this, please do not hesitate to ask. :)
Well folks, I believe that's it! What a busy, crazy, yet wonderful first week of school. I am so excited to begin teaching your children and look forward to all the laughs through learning that we will share!
God's blessings on your week!
