Greetings on this sticky, humid Monday afternoon~
I hope you had a glorious and relaxing break. I know that I thoroughly enjoyed getting some time to catch up on sleep and pack (if you haven't heard already, I am moving to a new apartment October 22nd, so the packing has been getting quite stressful...). I also did take some time for myself and went to a coffee shop and enjoyed some well-deserved reading for "fun." But enough about me...
Listed below are some important dates to remember for all grades:

Last Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week in 6th grade, we began brainstorming our main ideas for our Patriot's Pen essay. After that, we worked on our hook/introduction paragraphs. The rest of the week, the students filled out their essay outlines. Note: There was no Monday Meditation for last week.
7th Grade ~ Last week in 7th grade, I introduced the Patriot's Pen essay. I always try and provide the students with the best options for brainstorming; therefore, we watched some YouTube videos about our theme. The rest of the week, the students filled out their essay outlines, organizing their thoughts for the writing process which we will begin actually writing this week. Note: There was no Monday Meditation for last week.
8th Grade ~ Last week in 8th grade, the students prepared for a "Tell-Tale-Heart" trial. For this trial, half of the students were defending the narrator of the story, saying he was insane; the other half of the students were convicting the narrator of 1st degree murder. I was very impressed with the teamwork that I saw when the students were searching for evidence and supporting each other as a team. Overall, this was a super fun activity, and the trial (which was held Wednesday) went VERY well! These kids are definitely good at arguing :) Tuesday, I introduced the students to the Patriot's Pen essay theme and we began brainstorming what to write about by watching some patriotic YouTube videos. Note: There was no Monday Meditation for last week.
The end of 1st Quarter is soon approaching! Can't believe we're almost 1/4th of the way done with the school year!
Have a blessed evening!
