This Week

6th Grade ~ This week, the 6th graders started working on MAP Testing goals. We will finish making those goals next week in preparation for MAP Testing in the next 2 weeks. The rest of the week was spent working on Literature Circles and completing the Literature Circle jobs packet. Starting next week, the students will be doing a different assignment that goes along with the books they are reading with their groups. In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions. Next week, the students will be taking their Chapter 5 test on conjunctions.

7th Grade ~ This week, the 7th graders started working on MAP Testing goals. We will finish making those goals next week in preparation for MAP Testing in the next 2 weeks. The rest of the week we continued discussing and reading The Outsiders. As a class, we read chapters 8 and 9, and then completed and discussed the comprehension questions for the section. On Thursday and Friday, the students worked on a devotion that could be given to one of the characters from the book that is suffering the loss of a dear friend. This devotion will be due on Monday. In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions. Next week, the students will be taking their Chapter 5 test on conjunctions.

8th Grade ~ This week, the 8th graders started working on MAP Testing goals. We will finish making those goals next week in preparation for MAP Testing in the next 2 weeks. The 8th graders were assigned list #10 of Latin/Greek roots. It was a bigger list this week, and we practiced some of the words through a riveting game of BINGO! The rest of the week was devoted to finishing up The Book Thief. It has been quite the journey these last 2 quarters, and while I am sad to see the book end (I always am), I am excited to watch the movie with the students. However, I am still waiting for permission slips from some students. Because the movie is rated PG-13, if I do not have a permission slip from a particular student on Monday, I cannot allow them to watch the movie. Furthermore, if you child has not had you sign the permission slip for watching The Book Thief, please speak with them and get it to me by Monday! Thank you for your cooperation :) On Thursday, the students and I discussed the final project for this unit and the journal rubric. Journals will be due Monday, March 13th and the final project will be due Monday, March 20th. In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions. Next week, the students will be taking their Chapter 5 test on conjunctions.

ALL ~ Just a reminder that "book talks" are due next week Friday!! Please be encouraging your child(ren) to keep reading if they have not completed their book yet!

Have a wonderful weekend!

God's blessings!

Grace
