Last Week
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders turned in their Section 2 Reading Strategies packets for DGDP, and then got the Section 3 packet (Note: this packet will be due this coming Friday). I spent the beginning of class on Tuesday showing the students more book trailer examples, and we discussed any of the questions that the students may have had. Please make sure that if your child/ren are confused about book trailers that they either ask an older sibling (who has had me previously), ask a classmate, or ask me; I don't want they freaking out over Christmas break because they don't understand what they are doing. The rest of the week, we continued to read chapters 9-11 of DGDP, completed some journal prompts, as well as some comprehension questions. On Friday, we did a short cause and effect lesson having to do with the events of the novel. In grammar, the students continued to work with pronouns, specifically possessive pronoun adjectives.
7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders finished presenting their utopia projects, and we as a class voted on the utopias we would want to individually join. On Thursday, I introduced our poetry unit by having the students take a pre-test; please know that this pre-test will be graded on participation, rather than content (it shows we what the students already know, and what I need to spend more time on!). In grammar, the students continued working with pronouns.
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders got their Latin/Greek roots list 11, and took their quiz on Friday. The rest of the week was spent making final touches on our WWII presentations, and then the students began presenting on Wednesday. We will finish up the presentations today, and then start reading TBT (The Book Thief) later this week! There was no grammar last week. NOTE: The students will be taking their Chapter 4 grammar test on Wednesday!
ALL ~
Remember that if you would like to order book orders, please do so by December 11th (next Monday)!
We begin presenting book trailers on January 3rd!!
Have a great week!
