Happy Monday!
Thank you SO much for such a wonderful National Lutheran Schools Week! I know that students had a ton of fun, as well as the teachers (even though I may have napped all weekend, haha). Last Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders worked on their 2017-2018 Inspirational writing prompt. Every year, the students complete a writing prompt that gets posted on the Inspirations website. This year, the 6th graders wrote about one of their favorite Bible characters. Note: in the spring, the students' writing will be public to all students and families. On Monday, the 6th graders also began planning out their author project for Genius Hour, selecting possible resources, presentation formats, and filling out the project proposal plan. I look forward to reading their proposals this week! The rest of the week was spent on Literature Circles - reading with their groups and completing their first "job". In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions. NOTE: Chapter 5 grammar test on Wednesday!
7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders worked on their 2017-2018 Inspirational writing prompt. Every year, the students complete a writing prompt that gets posted on the Inspirations website. This year, the 7th graders wrote about an object in their life that is very valuable. Note: in the spring, the students' writing will be public to all students and families. The rest of the week, the students and I read chapters 6-10 of Crispin, discussed some figurative language in the novel, and the students completed their first set of comprehension questions for the book. It is always fun to read with these students because they get so excited about books :) Makes my job super fun! In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions.
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked on their 2017-2018 Inspirational writing prompt. Every year, the students complete a writing prompt that gets posted on the Inspirations website. Note: in the spring, the students' writing will be public to all students and families. The rest of the week, the students read TBT Part 5 in small groups and completed small writing assignments (4 in a Row) each day. This week, the students will have Monday and Tuesday to finish Part 5 and their 4 in a Row. In grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions. NOTE: Chapter 5 grammar test on Wednesday! Also, the 8th graders will be taking their 2nd Quarter roots test on Friday (same format as last quarter).
Have a wonderful week!
