Week 25

What a beautiful morning! The sun is shining, the birds are singing... is spring coming?? :) I sure hope so! And with that being said, I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. I know it's supposed to snow later this week, but can we all hope that it just melts right away so spring can show up??? Please!!

Secondly, Grandparent's Day is right around the corner (March 16th)! If you have not emailed Linda Pfeiffer (lpfeiffer@fils.org) your addresses for attending grandparents that day, please do so right away as we will be sending out the postcards in the next week!

Finally, with Grandparent's Day coming up, that means 3rd Quarter Book Projects are also! Some students only have one week until they start presenting! PLEASE be encouraging your child to work on those projects. I will be giving them some more time this week to work on them, but I cannot promise how much time. These projects are definitely worth a lot, and I want the students to do well and be proud of their work! Please let me know if you have any questions about your child's project.

And now onto the normal stuff...

Last Week:

6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders began the week by filling out a sheet about the book that they were to have completed for their 3rd Quarter project. I was VERY impressed to see that ALL students followed instructions and actually had their book finished. This may be the first time in my history of teaching! Such a proud teacher moment :) The rest of the week, the students continued reading their literature circle books. In grammar, the students continued working with interjections. NOTE: there will be a grammar test on Wednesday!

7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders began the week by filling out a sheet about the book that they were to have completed for their 3rd Quarter project. I was VERY impressed to see that ALL students followed instructions and actually had their book finished. This may be the first time in my history of teaching! Such a proud teacher moment :) The rest of the week, the students and I continued reading Crispin, as well as completing some comprehension questions, making predictions via an interactive poll, and discussing some figurative language found in the novel. In grammar, we started Chapter 6, which discusses interjections.

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders began the week by filling out a sheet about the book that they were to have completed for their 3rd Quarter project. I was VERY impressed to see that ALL students followed instructions and actually had their book finished. This may be the first time in my history of teaching! Such a proud teacher moment :) On Monday, the 8th graders also received their roots list 18, and took a quiz on Friday. We are definitely cruising through these roots! The rest of the week, we finished Part 8 of The Book Thief, and completed a Seesaw reflection. It is my hope that in the next 2 weeks, we will finish TBT! In grammar, the students continued working with interjections. NOTE: there will be a grammar test on Wednesday!

Have a wonderful week!

Grace
