Week 27

Good morning!

I hope everyone is awake, alert, and ready to start today after that AWFUL Daylight Savings bit Sunday morning. I honestly cannot remember a time that I've been so tired! Losing an hour is tough, haha.

Also, thank you to all of those who attended the Dream Big Gala/Auction Saturday night. The funds raised are going to go so far to support our students next year. We as the teachers, administration, and church truly appreciate the donations made towards FILS. We couldn't do it without you all. So, thank you :)

REMINDER: Don't forget that Friday is Grandparents Day! Students are to arrive with their grandparents for chapel, and then will have the opportunity to attend the Scholastic Book fair (best time of the year!), the Elementary and Middle School Reading Fair (come see your student's book project), and walk around the school visiting different classrooms. Once all activities are completed, students are allowed to leave with their grandparents. We can't wait to have you all!

Important Dates:

  • March 16th - Grandparents Day/End of the Quarter/Early Dismissal

  • March 20th - Student Council meeting @ 7:05 a.m.

  • March 29th - April 8th - Easter/Spring Break!

Last Week:

6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders started presenting their 3rd quarter final projects (we will finish those up this week). I have been SO impressed with the projects that have come in so far! I can tell that the students have been putting forth a great amount of effort to complete these. Makes this teacher very proud :) The rest of the week was spent reading in literature circles and finishing up the Tic-Tac-Toe activity packet. Today will be the last day of literature circle reading (books must be finished when the students get to class tomorrow. In grammar, the 6th graders started Chapter 7, which is on helping verbs and inverted vs. natural word order.

7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders started presenting their 3rd quarter final projects (we will finish those up this week). I have been SO impressed with the projects that have come in so far! I can tell that the students have been putting forth a great amount of effort to complete these. Makes this teacher very proud :) The rest of the week was spent reading Crispin and doing some activities to go along with that. This week, we will be finishing up the book! In grammar, the 7th graders took their Chapter 6 test and did SO well! This was definitely one of the class's best tests of the year!

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders started presenting their 3rd quarter final projects (we will finish those up this week). I have been SO impressed with the projects that have come in so far! I can tell that the students have been putting forth a great amount of effort to complete these. Makes this teacher very proud :) On Monday, the students received list 20 for Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on Friday. Thursday-Friday, the students and I FINALLY finished up The Book Thief! It was enjoyable seeing the students react to the ending. This week, I will be explaining the small project that the students will do with the novel (letter/quote journal), and we will be watching the movie. Again, that you for allowing your child to explore this novel. I know it can get long, but I truly believe it provides people with an entirely different look at and appreciation for WWII. In grammar, the 8th graders started Chapter 7, which is on helping verbs and inverted vs. natural word order.

Have a blessed week!
