Good morning!
Only 3 more weeks to go until your children are home ALL the time, haha! :P I cannot believe the year has flown this quickly and is just about over. Who would have thought that I would be already completing my 3rd year and my very first class of 6th graders would be graduating this year... it's sad yet so exciting because I know that they are going onto bigger and better things! AND, I have a wonderful bunch of kids still stuck with me, haha. :)
With only 13 days of school left, I just wanted to throw out a few reminders:

Last 2 Weeks:
6th Grade ~ The last 2 weeks, the 6th graders have accomplished MANY things! As a class, we finished reading The Cay, and then the students started working on their final project for the book (making a character alphabet for one of the characters from the book - see rubric in LA folder for more information). This project will be due THIS Wednesday. The 6th graders also have begun presenting their Genius Hour projects for the class (hopefully we'll finish those today), and then will do a final project reflection when those are complete. In grammar, the students took their Chapter 9 Test on pattern 2 and direct objects.
7th Grade ~ The last 2 weeks, the 7th graders have worked on and presented their persuasive speeches. To prepare, I worked with the 7th graders on how to format a persuasive speech, organize their reasons for their topics, and then build an outline on those reasons. Last week, they presented their speeches and did marvelously! I was very impressed! These continue to be some of the best speeches I've ever had students give! Keep up the good work! This coming week, we will start discussing demonstration speeches, plan them, and start giving those next week already! In grammar, the 7th graders continued to work with pattern 2 and direct objects. I am thinking that they will have their Chapter 9 grammar test on pattern 2 and direct objects next week Wednesday.
8th Grade ~ The last 2 weeks have been pretty crazy in 8th grade! The students have gone over 2 Latin/Greek root lists, worked on their rough drafts, turned in their rough drafts, worked on the title page and works cited page, and research papers have started flowing in! I was very impressed to see that about half of the 8th graders chose to hand in their paper last Friday to get the 10 extra credit points (which I highly encourage them to do!). This week the students can hand in their paper any day, last date to turn them in being Friday. The 8th graders and I have also started memorizing their hymn that they will sing at my homeroom's chapel as well as at graduation. So, if you are hearing them sing "God Loves Me Dearly" a lot, you know why :) In grammar, the 8th graders continued to work with pattern 2 and direct objects.
3 more weeks to go! We can do this!
Have a great week!
