Last Blog Post of the Year!

Happy Monday!

Only 8 more days of school until summer break! Whoop!

With everything wrapping up, this is actually going to be my last blog post of the year until next year! For each grade, I will be listing what we're doing so you know what is coming up! Thank you so much for all of your support throughout the year. It's been a wonderful year for both the students and me, and we wouldn't be able to make it through without the support of you parents. Whether it's been buying materials for a project, bringing birthday treats or party treats, or just simply stopping in to say hello, thank you for all that you do :) You are very much appreciated :)

Also, congratulations to our 8th graders on their Confirmation this Sunday. What a wonderful opportunity to proclaim their faith! I will always keep them in my prayers, and hope to see them in church throughout the years!

And with that.....

June 1st: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders finished presenting their Genius Hour projects, and then filled out a final reflection on the GH unit. Monday-Wednesday, the students worked on their Cay final projects, and then handed those in on Thursday. The rest of the week, we watched the TV movie version of The Cay. We also started presenting book talks/trailers. For the rest of the school year, the 6th graders will:

  • Finish presenting book talks/trailers

  • Take their grammar post test

  • Write their Spring Impromptu Writing Piece

  • Participate in some Reader's Theatre

  • 5th Grade Step-Up Day

7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders wrote their last Monday Meditation EVER (we do Latin & Greek roots practice in 8th grade). We then spent the rest of the week discussing demonstration speeches, writing outlines, practicing speeches, and getting everything ready to go for those speeches. We also started presenting book talks/trailers. For the rest of the school year, the 7th graders will:

  • Finish presenting book talks/trailers

  • Present demonstration speeches

  • Take their grammar post test

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders finished handing in their Exceptionalities research papers, and took their last quiz on Latin/Greek roots. It is my hope that they will be much better prepared for their roots study in high school because of this unit that we did together. The rest of the week, the 8th graders wrapped up the Exceptionalities unit by watching "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Just a reminder that most of the 8th graders still need to hand in their oral book report to my by the end of the school year. For the rest of the school year, the 8th graders will:

  • Write their Spring Impromptu Writing Piece

  • Go over research paper rubrics and discuss points lost

  • Have a speaker in Social Studies and write a reflection

  • Take their grammar post test

  • Practice their graduation hymn

  • Hand in oral book report for 4th Quarter

I look forward to spending the next 2 weeks with the students! It's almost summer!!

Have a wonderful week!

Grace
