Happy brisk and wonderful fall morning!
Isn't this weather just wonderful?!!! Yes, it could maybe be not AS cold as it has been, but at least we don't have snow! My parents in Minnesota got snow yesterday and it made me very thankful that we don't have any yet. I'm definitely not ready for that craziness yet. :/
I just wanted to thank all of those who sent box tops with their children last week. We had a great collection, and the Student Council truly appreciates the donations. The money that we get from the box top collection allows us to helps support the teachers at FILS, as well as donate money to some of the children that we support through Compassion International. So, thank you :)
Just a reminder that if you are interested in book orders, that they are due October 26th!
Believe it or not, the end of the quarter is around the corner (October 26th), which means that Parent/Teacher Conferences are right to follow. If you have not signed up yet, please see the link below. While it is a crazy few days, the teachers love having this opportunity to talk with you and share our love about your children. Occasionally, we discuss some concerns, but please see this as a time for us to praise your children! I love conferences! Please come and visit!
I think that's all the announcements I have...?

Last Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders spent every day working on their Patriot's Pen Essay. At the end of the week, we did self and peer editing, formatted our essays, and then made the final corrections. Today, the students printed their essays and turned them in. Yay for completing their first Patriot's Pen Essay! In grammar, the 6th graders continued to work with conjunctions. Just a heads up that they will be taking a grammar test on Wednesday.
7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders finished The Giver! The students were definitely bummed by the end of the book (most are, haha), but they still handled it well. They will be doing a project to go along with the book, but we are going to take a break from that right now to do our Patriot's Pen Essay for the next 2 weeks. In Shurley Grammar, the students continued working with conjunctions and will be talking a test on that this Wednesday. In advanced grammar, the students worked with prepositional phrases (adjectival and adverbial). They struggled with them a little bit, so we will be working with them more this week.
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list 7 of Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on them on Friday. (NOTE: they will NOT be having a list and quiz this week.) We then spent the rest of the week researching their topics for their paper. I pushed their 25-30 note cards due date to tomorrow (Tuesday). It is my hope that we will finish up research today or tomorrow and then start on/work on outlines the rest of this week. The students' next official due date is next Monday, October 22nd, and their outlines are due that day. In advanced grammar, the students worked with prepositional phrases (adjectival and adverbial). They struggled with them a little bit, so we will be working with them more this week.
Have a wonderful week!
