Week 22

Happy National Lutheran Schools Week!!

I bet you never imagined we'd be having this much school off these weeks?! I know I didn't! And we're in for ANOTHER day off tomorrow because of cold... WOO!!! :) Please stay warm and safe as the week continues to get colder.... we don't need anybody freezing outside!

With that being said, this week will be a little up in the air when it comes to homework on RenWeb. I'll try and keep everything up to date the best I can. Please tell your children just to email me if at any point they have questions!

I'm looking forward to the rest of this week and its celebrations!!

Last Week:

6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders had a Monday Meditation (which was due today). The rest of the week was then spent reading in their literature circles and completing their last 2 jobs in their packet (the packet was due today). They also did a task card with their group. NOTE: their books are to be finished by Thursday when they come to class. I will then explain the final project that they will be doing to go along with their book. In grammar, the 6th graders continued working with deciphering between pattern 1 and pattern 2. NOTE: the students will be having a test on chapter 10 NEXT week.

7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders had a Monday Meditation (which was due today). On Monday, we also discussed the 1960s research that the students did the following week. On Tuesday, the students and I talked about stereotypes and how they directly impact characters not only in The Outsiders, but also in our daily lives. To conclude the week, we started reading chapter 1 of The Ousiders as a class. In Shurley grammar, the students took a test. In advanced grammar, the students and I discussed participial phrases.

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list 17 of Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on Friday. NOTE: there will be NO roots this week. The rest of the week was spent reading Part 5 of TBT with small groups in a literature circle style. Each day, the students deligated how much they wanted to read in their groups, and then completed a very short activity to go along with that reading. Part 5 was to be finished by today, as well as the 4 in a Row activities completed. In grammar, we continued to work with participial phrases. ALSO: because of tomorrow's cold day, the 8th graders have been informed that they are to read up through page 347 in TBT for Thursday when they get back.

Enjoy your cold day tomorrow!

Grace
