Happy Monday!!
Just a reminder that this week is our Box Top collection, so please be sending in those up through Thursday! The Student Council will be clipping and getting them all ready to go on Thursday after school. It is VERY helpful to us if you cut them out ahead of time and check expiration dates. Thank you for supporting our school!!
Also, you should be receiving an email from Mrs. Walker about this, but FYI, if we have a snow day tomorrow (fingers crossed that we DON'T!) we WILL be making the day up Friday. Please pray for no snow day! We can't afford to have anymore... :(

February 12th: NO STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING!
February 14th: Box Top clipping party after school (SC members only)

Last Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders answered a Monday Meditation about the Super Bowl, which was then due today. This week, the students are going to be doing a different prompt in the place of a Monday Meditation; it will still be due next Tuesday (because of no school Monday). The rest of the week, the students worked on their Literature Circle projects. In grammar, the students continued to practice with Pattern 1 and Pattern 2. Note: THIS WEEK WEDNESDAY the 6th graders will be taking their chapter 10 test!
7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders answered a Monday Meditation about the Super Bowl, which was then due today. This week, the students are going to be doing a different prompt in the place of a Monday Meditation; it will still be due next Tuesday (because of no school Monday). Throughout the week, the students read chapters 2, 3, & part of 4 of The Outsiders. We will finish chapter 4 today in class. The 7th graders also answered some comprehension questions about the readings they completed, as well as discussing the difference between different groups of characters via a Venn Diagram. In Shurley grammar, the students started talking about Pattern 2 and direct objects and did a worksheet. In advanced grammar, the students continued to work with participial phrases and did a worksheet.
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list 18 of their Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on Friday. Note: this week's quiz will be on Thursday (unless we don't have school tomorrow in which case it will be Friday). On Monday, the students took a quiz on Part 6 as well as doing a Socratic Discussion. Tuesday and Thursday, the students and I talked about the Holocaust, and then did a reflection on a real Holocaust victim. It is my hope that the students have a bigger appreciation for those that risked their lives during WWII and have a better understanding for when we go to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. On Friday, we started reading Part 7 of TBT. In grammar, the students worked with gerunds and did a worksheet.
Have a great week!
