Hola!
Welcome back to real life, haha! Whether it was the Chicago trip or Washington D.C., it sometimes feels good to get back on a normal schedule.
I had an absolute BLAST with the kids in D.C. I could not have asked for a better group of people to travel with, and am sad that the trip we have all been waiting for for the last 2 years is over :( Thank you to all the chaperones that made this trip a success! We appreciate having you there helping keep the students under control... and the other chaperones :P Please take time to fill out the surveys that Ms. Shields sent out about the trip. Those are SO helpful when it comes to planning for the future trips. Be honest too. We need to know what to fix and do better next time! Thank you!

Last Week & This Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders did NOT have a Monday Meditation. On Tuesday, we finished reading The River, and then discussed how Brian had changed from the beginning of the book to the end via a Venn Diagram. On Wednesday, the students took the Language MAP test, which covers writing and grammar (this is new and more for my records, than FIL's). On Thursday, the students and I discussed their upcoming test on The River, filled out a plot diagram that will be on the test, and then I explained what the students were going to be working on while I was in D.C. For that assignment, the students were to make a 25 question review game on the novel. Today, the students and I played the review games, and then discussed what was going to be on the test. The test will be TOMORROW! On Friday, the students will begin our last unit of the school year on genres/reader's theatre.
7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders did NOT have a Monday Meditation. On Tuesday, the students and I discussed persuasive speeches and how to perform them correctly. I then had the students start brainstorming topics for their persuasive speeches. On Wednesday, the students took the Language MAP test, which covers writing and grammar (this is new and more for my records, than FIL's). On Thursday, the students selected their topics for their persuasive speeches and then started working on their pro/con list for their topic. Today, the students continued to work on their pro/con lists and some began researching a well. Tomorrow, the students will continue working on research and then sign up for speeches, which will be next Wed/Thurs/Fri. On Friday, the 7th graders will work on their speech outlines, which will be due Monday.
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders did NOT have a roots quiz, as well as this week. On Tuesday and Thursday, the students watched the movies that they had earned via their Disney Dollars. On Wednesday, the students took the Language MAP test, which covers writing and grammar (this is new and more for my records, than FIL's). Today, the students finished up their movies, and then started working on their Holocaust Museum Journal Prompt from D.C., which will be due on Friday. Tomorrow, we will begin talking about "The Most Dangerous Game" (MDG), and start reading the short story. Friday, the students and I will finish up the short story.
Have a great rest of the week!
