Happy snowy Monday...
Nothing like waking up to what feels like a blizzard. It's too early for snow... sorry to complain, but what happened to fall?! I went to an apple orchard yesterday and all the apples were MUSHY! It's sad to see the greatest season go by so fast :(

Last Week:
6th Grade ~ Last week, the 6th graders were taught by their pre-student teachers for the first time. The week included: a Monday Meditation which was due today, reading chapters 4-7 of DGDP, working on the first reading strategies packet, answering some journal prompts, and doing the chapter 6-7 comprehension questions. The students really seem to be enjoying their pre-student teachers (who are doing fabulously!), and cannot wait to be taught by them more :) In grammar, the students started working with interjections and did a worksheet.
7th Grade ~ Last week was a short week for the 7th graders :) It sounds like they had a BLAST at Outdoor Ed! On Thursday, the advanced grammar students took their Unit 1 Test (and DID SO WELL!!). In Shurley grammar, the students began working with conjunctions and did a worksheet. On Friday, the students presented their Among the Hidden movie posters. It was fun to see their creativity and poster-making abilities!
8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list #8 of Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on Friday. On Monday and Tuesday, the students peer edited their classmates' research papers, and then began making corrections on their own papers on Wednesday. On Thursday, the 8th graders worked on their title page and works cited page. On Friday, about half of the students handed in their final drafts for their Exceptionalities Research Paper and received 10 extra credit points! Those that turn their final drafts in today get 5 extra credit points. The last day to turn in their papers is THIS Friday. Also on Friday, Mrs. Pergande and her son Evan came in and talked about his exceptionality; the kids loved meeting Evan and hearing Mrs. Pergande talk about their life. There were definitely lots of laughs and smiles :) There was NO grammar last week. NOTE: I will be sending home the permission slip for the students to read The Book Thief book; this will be due THIS Friday.
Have a fabulous week!
Grace
