Week 20

HAPPY NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK!

Last night, the teachers helped celebrate the beginning of NLSW by honoring Mrs. Roeske as Elementary Teacher of the Year for the South Wisconsin District! I am so blessed to work with such a talented staff. If you see her, please congratulate her :)

This week is going to be CRAZY with all of the activities and dress up days. Don't forget to check out the Tuesday Note for all updates, dress up days, and times for activities. We will begin today with watching the live-action Aladdin :) The kids (and myself) are VERY excited!

7th & 8th Grade Families: If you have not responded to my Six Flags survey, PLEASE do so ASAP. I want to get numbers figured out so that we can start planning for buses and ticket prices. Thanks!

Last Week:

6th Grade ~ Last week, I started something new with the 6th graders called "Move It Mondays". This is a stations-based day where for about 15 minutes, each student will be at a different station working on a different activity: Monday Mediation, IXL practice (NOT HOMEWORK! Just to be done in class), and reading their decade book. Throughout the week, the students continued to read their decade book with their partner(s). The goal is to be 3/4 of the way through these books by NEXT Monday. In grammar, the students completed their Chapter 8 Grammar Test. Grades are already in the gradebook as well as on Seesaw.

7th Grade ~ Last week, the students worked on their Monday Meditation which was due today. On Monday and Tuesday, the 7th graders finished up the research for their informative speeches. On Wednesday, they started planning out/outlining their speeches as well as figuring out what kinds of visual aids they wanted for their speeches. On Thursday and Friday, the students worked on their visual aids. In Shurley Grammar, the students worked with helping verbs and did a worksheet. In advanced grammar, the students worked with participial phrases and did a worksheet. THIS WEEK informative speeches are happening. Listed below are the presentation days:

  • Monday: Elijah Wiley, Kaitlyn Hauser, & Jack Vravick

  • Tuesday: Lily Everts, Sam Eisenhauer, Makayla Wallock, Justin Dummann, Gabi Weyde, Addie Wenthold, Trista Scheer, & Nick Erickson

  • Wednesday: Gavin Grob, Arielle Lamm, Ayn Hajdu, Josie Witte, Denny Oechsner, Sophia Steffen, & Christian Remm

  • Thursday: Jose Pacheco, Aria Wessel, Evan Feiertag, Sarah Helm, & Joe Twietmeyer.

  • Friday: Catch up day...

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list 15 of Latin/Greek roots and took their quiz on Friday. All did very well! Monday was the last day they could work on their Standover Man projects and then they were due Tuesday. I very much enjoyed reading the students' stories about themselves. The rest of the week, the students were split into small groups and read Part 5 of TBT. Along with the reading, the students also had to complete a 4 in a Row sheet which correlated with the readings. The 4 in a Row and Part 5 were due TODAY. In grammar, the students worked with too/two/to and then/than and did a worksheet.

Have a great NLSW! God's blessings to you this day!

Grace
