I'm glad to see that MOST of our students are back and feeling better! It's been a rough few weeks, but I think the plague has made it's way FINALLY through the middle school. :)

Last Week:

6th Grade ~ Last week the 6th graders worked on their Monday Meditation, IXL skills, and decade book during Move It Monday. Throughout the rest of the week the students finished reading their decade book. On Friday, the groups met together to come up with and plan their decade project, which will combine the research they did on their decade as well as what happened in their book. All project proposals were very cool and I cannot wait to see the finished products!! NOTE: these projects will be worked on all THIS week, and be due NEXT Tuesday after the long weekend. In grammar, the 6th graders continued to work with Pattern 2 and direct objects and did a worksheet.

7th Grade ~ Last week, the 7th graders worked on their 2019-2020 Inspirational prompt. This is the writing piece that will be published on the FILS Inspirations website at the end of the year and made public to all parents and students. On Monday, we finished up with the informative speeches. On Tuesday, I taught the students about persuasive speeches and their format, and then the 7th graders started looking up persuasive speech topics. On Friday, the students officially picked their topic and started working on their pro/con list. In Shurley grammar, the students continued to work with natural/inverted word order sentences and did a worksheet. In advanced grammar, the students learned about fragments, run-ons, comma-splices, and ramble-on sentences and did a worksheet.

8th Grade ~ Last week, the 8th graders worked with list 16 of Latin/Greek roots and took a quiz on Friday. Throughout the week, the students read Part 7 of TBT, as well as completing some accompanying activities: a quiz, a letter from the POV of one of the characters, as well as completing their 2nd Socratic Discussion (which they did very well on!). In grammar, the students worked with commonly misused words and did a worksheet.

Have a FABULOUS week! Enjoy the pretty snow :)
